Consuming Spanish and Catalan media not only helps improve language skills it gives an insight into the culture of Catalunya and Spain as a whole helping anyone coming to live here to understand and assimilate more easily.

TV & Radio

The Spanish state broadcaster rtve (radiotelevisiónespañola) operates two national terrestrial TV channels, TVE1 (La primera), TVE2 (La 2) offering the usual selection of soaps, chat shows, films news and sport, and six radio station Radio 1, Radio Clásica, Radio 3, 4, 5 and Radio Exterior de España. In addition to this they also operate other regional stations including TVE Cataluya with programmes in Spanish and Catalan.

TV3 Televisió de Catalunya who operate exclusively in Catalan with a similar schedule, though maybe a little higher brow than TVE1 with an obvious focus on Catalunya. There are also four Catalan radio stations Catalunya Ràdio, Catalunya Música, Catalunya Informació and iCatfm.

Newspapers

Probably the most famous Spanish newspaper is El Pais but it is seen very much as a Madrid newspaper in Catalunya. Other national titles include el mundo, ABC and LA RAZÓN. Catalunya has two newspapers LA VANGUARDIA published in Spanish and el Periódico de Catalunya published in Spanish and Catalan.
