Holy Week/Semana SantaWhen: last week of March
Where: all over Catalunya
Semana Santa runs in the last week of March. On Palm Sunday Padrinos, (Godparents) give decorated and/or woven collections of ornate Palm leaves to their Godchildren, only to be followed by the giving of Monas elaborate chocolate creations involvng Easter Eggs or the latest fad from the Simpsons to Harry Potter. The processions of Semana Santa can be seen in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, hundreds of people carrying Jesus and His Mother to the Cathedral, amid the sound of drums and trumpets. It's a spectacle to be enjoyed all over Catalunya though not on the scale that it's done in the south of Spain. |

SANT PERE - FESTA MAJOR DE REUSWhen: June 15-29 2007
Where: Reus
The biggest event of the year for Reus is their Festa Major in honour of its patron saint, Peter. The festivities begin with Corpus Christi, the first outing of the giants and other festive characters and build up to the fires of St John's eve on June 24th which starts off the main part of the celebrations. Including music, dance, entertainment, human towers and fireworks in abundance. |

TRAPEZIWhen: May 9-13
Where: Reus
The Catalan circus fair fils Reus with more than 60 companies and 120 performances. The town's streets, squares, theatres and other open spaces become the venue for a huge variety of circus acts.
